The History Center in Tompkins County hires
The History Center in Tompkins County is pleased to announce that Wylie Schwartz has been appointed as its new Marketing & Development Manager. A native Ithacan, Wylie Schwartz received her BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Georgia, and has worked as reporter, art critic, and news anchor for several media organizations including the Ithaca Times and news radio WHCU. Wylie holds an MA in the History of European Art from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, where she specialized in modern and contemporary art, world art theory, and museum studies, ethics, and display practices. Additional experience includes four years as administrator for the Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies, as well as a position in educational outreach at the Institute for European Studies at Cornell University, where she is currently involved with a research project investigating ‘Depictions of Women Working in the History of Oil Painting.’ As a graduate student, a key interest was how to make history accessible and interesting to members of the public who are not historians, a challenge she looks forward to working with in her new position at the History Center in Tompkins County. The board and staff are very happy to have Wylie involved with the marketing and development of The History Center. Wylie begins at The History Center immediately as her predecessor, Lizette Odfalk, trains her and prepares to move South to Texas. Welcome Wylie! |
