The History Center to Host Adult Reading Group
on Recent Immigrants

This spring the History Center in Tompkins County will offer a monthly adult reading group recent immigrants. This timely discussion series will provide an engaging forum for participants to explore the individual stories of recent immigrants. Participants will receive a personal copy of each book.

Meetings will be held on Thursday evenings,
April 8, May 6, and June 3
from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Facilitators include Prof. Ray Craib and Prof. Shelley Wong, of Cornell University, and Sarah L. Wessels, Coordinator, T-S-T BOCES Adult English as a Second Language Program, Ithaca. Led by these local experts, the series will explore the experiences of immigrants over the last generation. What was their journey to America? How have they survived in America? How has living in America affected culture and family roles? The series provides an opportunity to learn about the vital role that immigrants play in the economic and social life of Tompkins County. Participants will also have access to an exhibit of Hungarian textiles and archives related to immigration in Tompkins County.

Group size is limited to 15 participants, so please pre-register for this program.
