Bill Kappel on

The Ups and Downs of Cayuga Lake

cayuga lake

What/who controls the water-level fluctuations of the Lake?

What is the natural history of the Lake and the river that flows from it?

How has the intervention of people over the past 200 years affected the water-level regime of the Lake?

Join us for an August History Café, where Bill Kappel, a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, will examine these and other questions on the ever-changing water levels of Cayuga Lake. The presentation is in conjunction with The History Center’s current exhibit titled, ‘Out Upon Cayuga’s Waters: 100 Years of Life on the Lake (on view June 16th through October, 2009.).
