Fall Book GroupThe unusually high number of writers who live in Tompkins County has meant that Ithaca has served as the backdrop of numerous works of fiction. Evocative novels and chilling detective stories have been set in our part of Central New York. How have writers depicted Ithaca? What have they observed about its characteristics and people? This fall, the book group at The History Center will explore books in which Ithaca or an imagined location that bears close resemblance is featured in the narrative. In addition, the group will read the Odyssey, the first time that “Ithaca” was immortalized in verse. The book group will meet three times during the fall. Local writers and scholars will facilitate meetings. The first meeting will be September 23 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Books will be available for pick up at The History Center. Group size is limited to 15 participants; please register soon. To register, call 273-8284 ext. 0 or admin@thehistorycenter.net.
