The History Center's
Group Tours
The Colorful
Characters of Ithaca's
Past
Duration: 60 minutes
This
guided walking tour features tales touching upon many important figures
and events in Ithaca's history, such as silent movie stars and the
Iroquois Settlement. We also
explore Ithaca's diverse architectural history and innovative spirit.
Listen to tales of the "bad old days" of fun and excitement in the
City's West End in the days of the Erie Canal, and to stories of the
successive waves of teamsters, gamblers, cockfighters, bootleggers,
students, and reformers who tried to keep at least a small lid on
things or salvage the damage.

The Haunted
History Tour
Duration: 60 minutes
Inspired
by the popular walking "ghost tours" which take place in Great Britain
in nearly every town, village and city, the History Center has developed
its own unique haunted tour. Join us as we explore murders, hauntings,
and unusual occurrences in Ithaca's past. What happened during the
Buffalo Street bobsledding trip gone wrong? Which early settlers to
the country were chopping more than just wood? Take the tour ... if
you dare!
Please contact Wylie Schwartz for information
on how to personalize your tour experience. Bookers may choose a personalized
guided walking tour or an interactive tour with actors and vignettes
along the route.
