UPDATE:AN EVENING OF ICE CREAM and ‘MODERN MARVELS’The History Center in Tompkins County and the Tompkins County Visitor’s Bureau will be sponsoring an evening of ‘Ice Cream and Modern Marvels’ where we will enjoy ice cream sundaes from Purity Ice Cream and watch the airing of the Modern Marvels episode on the History Channel featuring our Director, Gary Reinbolt, who was interviewed about the history of the ice cream sundae in Ithaca. The event will take place Monday, June 23rd, 2008, from 7-9pm, so please mark your calendars and join us at The History Center! Special thanks to Time Warner Cable, who will be donating free cable for the evening so that we can watch the show as it airs at 8pm! Which of these statements is true? A. Ice Cream Sundaes will be served at The History Center! (All we can "reveal" at this moment is that at least one of these statements is true!)
The History Center's Director Gary Reinbolt was invited to New York City a few months ago to the filming of the History Channel's Modern Marvels show episode focusing on the history of the Ice Cream Sundae. The show was filmed in an old "gelato" factory in New York City (adding to the charm of the episode) and will be aired on Monday night, June 23rd! We hope to get a copy of the CD and show it at a later date at The History Center and invite our local ice cream vendors to sponsor the event making it a real history celebration and community day at The History Center! More details will follow...
