LGBT Rights in Tompkins County: Organizing for Change
Nancy Bereano, Joyce Muchan, Ross Haarstadt & Sandra Pollack

Nancy K. Bereano has been a grassroots activist in Tompkins County for almost forty years, much of that time involved in LGBT issues. She was the publisher and editor of the award-winning feminist and lesbian press, Firebrand Books, and is a founding member of the Tompkins County Working Group on LGBT Aging.

Ross Haarstad has lived in Ithaca over 30 years, 21 with his partner Larry Roberts; they are members of the Ithaca 50, who sued New York state for marriage equality. Ross co-founded AIDS Work of Tompkins County and has been involved in LGBT rights and other diversity issues at Cornell and in Ithaca and Tompkins County since the 1980s.

Twentieth Century Modern? Photography in the 1950s
Suzette Newberry, archivist and historian

Susette Newberry is the Outreach Coordinator for Olin and Uris Libraries and VIVO Humanities Curator at Cornell. She holds a Ph. D. in the history of art from Cornell University with a specialty in the history of photography. A former archivist and exhibitions manager, she has contributed to the production of numerous digital collections, with an emphasis on collections of historic photographs.
