This free program on water sustainability, co-organized by the Paleontological Research Institution (PRI) and The History Center, will take place at Cayuga Nature Center on January 26 at 6.30pm.

Local experts will discuss and propose solutions to issues of water quality and pollution. The panel will feature experts in the field, including Dr. Janet E. Hawkes, Dr. Dan Karig, Dr. Niamh O’Leary, and Bill Foster. Dr. Hawkes is Co-Founder and Managing Director of HD 1 LLC, which advises on sustainable agriculture and environmental practices. Dr. Karig has a research interest in watersheds and has studied, in particular, Six Mile Creek. Dr. O’Leary has been involved in watershed conservation, management, and anti-pollution efforts. Bill Foster is Program Manager for the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom which increasingly focuses on sustainability in programming about Cayuga Lake and its watershed.

Water Quality is the last event of Sustainability Series, a year-long program on the history of sustainability in Tompkins County. Funding for the series is provided by a generous grant from the New York Council for the Humanities.
