Kids ages 6-12 and your families, join us for free programs to explore local history! Explore topics such as Haudensoaunee culture, the Tommy Plane and other local inventions, and human rights. Programs are hands-on, youth-centered, and open to all children. Children must be present with an adult.
Our Exhibit Hall is open to all ages! You can request coloring sheets, Exhibit Hall Scavenger Hunt, and activity guides for different ages from the front desk when you arrive.
Explore our History at Home activity sets for local history learning adventures!
EXPLORE THE MUSEUM ACTIVITY CRATES
Add adventure and fun to your museum visit by reserving one of our Explore the Museum Activity Crates! Filled with puzzles, books, crafting projects, coloring pages, and scavenger hunts for the museum.
Activity Crates can be checked out for $5 when scheduling your visit through our booking site FareHarbor. (Available beginning March 2021)
HEALTH & SAFETY: Following each use crates and activities will be quarantined for 3 days before going through a full sanitation process. Thanks to grant funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, we were able to purchase multiple sets of activities in each crate, allowing us to rotate them while maintaining necessary health and safety standards.
Enjoy story time during your museum visit! We have over 30 children's book titles related to local history available at our front desk! Books cover a range of topics and reading levels.
Children and families can "check out" up to three books to read during their visit. Check the front jacket cover for information about how these books connect to Tompkins County history!
