Babcock in agriculture and higher education The father of John Babcock (the author), H.E. was born in 1889 on a farm on Otsego County, and was an early county Farm Bureau Agent, and briefly the first professor of farm marketing at Cornell University. He left to head up GLF - since become Agway - in 1921.
