Aging in the Apocalypse: Our Aging and the Environment

Ithaca, NY: Aging in the Apocalypse is multi-media theatrical event that will feature readings of original work by Yvonne Fisher and Caryl Henry Alexander, art by Henry Alexander, live music by Jalaja Bonheim and video by Sue Perlgut. This work is both universal and personal in nature. It focuses on the human aging processes, climate change and the interaction between aging and the earth using humor, visual art, and video. Performances are $20 a ticket, Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 PM and Saturday, Oct. 23 at 3 PM and 7 PM at the Tompkins Center for Arts And Culture 110 North Tioga Street on the Commons in downtown Ithaca. About the Production Team:

Yonne Fisher is a writer, performer, and psychotherapist. Among many other things over the years, she has written and performed two solo pieces: My Viennese Mother and My Wedding Performance Piece. She is thrilled to be collaborating on Aging in the Apocalypse with Sue Perlgut, Carly Henry Alexander and Jalaja Bonheim.

Caryl Henry Alexander is a visual artist, an Environmental Justice activist, a Black feminist, a botanical place maker, a community organizer, and an herbalist. She is an educator who has educated, exhibited, and a creative collaborator in communities around the globe. Her great love is connecting with our natural world for better or worse in her Gratitude Garden. Ms Henry Alexander lives in Clinton, MD with her beloved husband Jesse Alexander.

Jalaja Bonheim is the author of seven books on women’s empowerment and spirituality and a teacher of Circlework, a practice dedicated to healing individuals and communities. Since retiring she has fallen in love with playing Handpans and Middle Eastern frame drums.

Sue Perlgut is an award-winning documentarian (CloseToHomeProductions.com) reaching a wide-ranging audience with documentaries, videos, and multimedia films that feature topical and socially relevant issues. Perlgut is one of the organizers of annual Reproductive Rights Film Festival held at Cinemapolis. She currently serves on the Cinemapolis Board and was recently recognized as a Woman of Distinction by Assembly member Anna Kelles.
