America at 250: Screening “Lafayette: A Hero's Return”

  • Cinemapolis 120 East Green Street Ithaca, NY, 14850 United States (map)

To celebrate America's 250th birthday, WSKG, Cinemapolis, and The History Center are partnering to bring you a series of history documentary screenings and community conversations.

We kick off with LaFayette: A Hero's Return.

Narrated by Julien Icher, historian and founder of the “Follow the Frenchman” YouTube series, “Lafayette: A Hero’s Return” explores Lafayette’s enduring legacy in both New York and American history. It traces his deep-rooted commitments to freedom, self-governance, and commerce, and examines the significance of his 1824–25 tour through the lens of a divided post-war nation, drawing powerful parallels to the present day.

This screening will be followed by a discussion led by Lafayette scholar Laurent Ferri. This event is free and open to the public.
