Tompkins County is one of the most inspiring communities within the United States. The historical legacy of dynamic industrial, social, and academic innovation underscores our deep commitment to building a better future. The History Center in Tompkins County has long been the community steward of our shared history - we safeguard the physical pieces of history for future generations, build inspirational educational opportunities for all ages, and create space to use the lessons from yesterday to inform a more equitable tomorrow. We are proud to collect and share the narratives of the people and places that make Tompkins County special.

COVID-19 has profoundly reshaped our future. Like many cultural institutions across the nation, we closed our doors at the outset of the epidemic. We are still wrestling with the heartbreak of locking up our new Exhibit Hall, limiting all physical access to the archives and collections, and most importantly, sharing our history with locals and visitors. But not even a once in a lifetime epidemic could stop us! We've pivoted to face the challenges ahead. When facing an uncertain future, our work becomes increasingly important. It's our privilege to continue serving Tompkins County - even if digitally and physically distanced!

The History Center family has always exemplified the very best of Tompkins County. And we know so many within our community are unable to continue their financial support as they grapple with profound challenges - we know because we are on the front-lines documenting this moment in time. Your gift does much more than ensure our future. Take a moment to explore the impact your gift has on our archiveseducational programs, and community. No matter what area you contribute to, you save a small piece of our experience for future generations.
